The Vale Surgery uses AccuRx Scribe, a secure NHS-approved digital tool, to support clinicians in creating accurate and timely consultation notes.
This helps ensure high-quality record keeping and continuity of care.
Who is responsible for your information
- Data Controller: The Vale Surgery, 198 Court Road, Mottingham, London SE9 4EW
- Data Processors: AccuRx Ltd (system provider) and EMIS Health (clinical system host)
Lawful basis for processing
- Article 6(1)(e) – Public task: processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest (provision of NHS healthcare).
- Article 9(2)(h) – Medical treatment: processing is necessary for medical diagnosis and the provision of health or social care.
What information is processed
AccuRx Scribe may process the following personal and special category (health) data:
- Name, date of birth, NHS number
- Contact details (where included in the consultation)
- Health information (symptoms, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, referrals)
Who has access to the data
Data is accessed only by authorised NHS staff involved in your direct care.
AccuRx Ltd and EMIS Health process data securely on behalf of The Vale Surgery and do not share it with any third parties.
Where and how your data is stored
All data is stored within secure, UK-based servers accredited to ISO 27001 and compliant with the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT).
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
No information is transferred outside the UK.
Automated decision-making
AccuRx Scribe does not use automated decision-making or artificial intelligence to make clinical judgments about your care.
How long we keep your information
Your health record is retained in line with the NHS Records Management Code of Practice (2021) — typically for 10 years after death or patient deregistration.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access a copy of your information
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Object to or restrict processing in certain circumstances
- Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe your data is mishandled
